Lily has arrived

Introducing...

Lily Rylan born screaming August 5, 2008. 4lbs 5oz and 17 1/2in long.

It was a stressful week. I'll post her birth story when I can, but she's healthy and happy. She's in NICU and will be there for probably 4 weeks, but she's healthy and alive and that's all that matters. We were finally able to hold her for the first time yesterday, and it was horrible leaving the hospital without her. I can't help but think of the last time we left the hospital empty handed, but it's not the same and I have to remind myself when I have moments of panic. The nurses are so good to her and we can call or visit 24hrs a day.

She's been under lights for jaundice for the past 2 days, but hopefully today she'll be off. Yesterday she was off her CPAP machine and is completely breathing on her own. I've never been so proud. I just want to tell every person that I see. My baby is breathing on her own.

It's going to be a long 4 weeks, but so worth the wait.

Thank you all for your support and your love. I could not have done it without you. And in case you are wondering, my aunt is still holding on. I'm not sure what she's waiting for, but she was able to see a picture of Lily and according to my mother, she smiled for the first time in weeks. Everyone said goodbye to her yesterday, and I'm not sure how her night went but I haven't heard anything yet. It's almost as though Lily had to come early to save the rest of the family from so much heartache.

"I just want to tell every person that I see" Me too. It's almost like it's happening to me- almost. I just can't express how happy and relieved I am for you. I know I have a chance at this, you and Lily have proved that to me.

Last night Mr. H asked if I was okay because I was crying and I answered, "Why wouldn't I be?" and he said "well another one of your blogger friends had a baby." and I responded with, "I know isn't it wonderful!" And I meant it.

I will continue to pray tthat everything goes well over the next 4 weeks and 80+ years of her life. What a wonderful and beautiful baby. What a wonderful and beautiful mom.

Visiting from Stillhopeful. Congratulations! I love the way you blended your boys' names to make Lily's middle name. That is such an honor to your sons.

Oh Becky, She is beautiful beyond words. I had a dream a week ago she was here and I thought I was just being weird because I haven't finished knitting her sweater. Glad she is here, overjoyed by the fact that she breathes on her own,and completely smitten with her beauty already.

found your blog from another...just wanted to say congrats!!

you deserve it!

my little girl was born at 29 weeks in 2006 (she turned 2 on saturday) and she is just PERFECT today! The NICU is not a fun place but SO much better than the alternative!

We also had twin boys in March of this year but sadly, they did not stay here with us. So while the NICU is hard...You will be bringing your baby home!

CONGRATS!

I too am visiting from Stillhopeful. We just had our first and she was 5 and a half weeks early. I was in a loss group w/ Monica.
As hard as it is to see your baby with all the plugs, cords, wires etc...each day she will get stronger and bigger and it gets easier. We whispered to our little girl (now 13 weeks) what she needed to do each day in the NICU.
Saying prayers for health and love and angels to surround your family!!
